Social media can make it feel like everyone else has it “all together.” For many adolescent girls in Metro Manila, this constant comparison lowers self-esteem. The key is helping them focus on their own unique strengths.
What parents can do:
Ask your daughter: “What’s one thing you’re proud of today that has nothing to do with looks or likes?”
Encourage “strength spotting” in the family — notice acts of kindness, creativity, or courage.
Limit social media time and discuss how online images are often filtered or staged.
